Migration controlling approach vs. Right based approach: Do stricter boarder controls and immigration policies work or should economic and social right of migrants be more protected. Which “solution” do you think has a more positive impact on the society?

This question can be answered only when we can clearly say what type of state is that one where we are living. Let´s try to analyze that. Our state is co-operating on the global scale. It is importing and exporting goods all around the world. We can buy products from our neighbors as well as from the USA, Brazil, UK, Chine and others. When it comes to talk about politics, we are part of the European Union. Our politicians sit in the European Parliament and our courts are submissive to the Europeans. Also our army is working with NATO and that means there are mutual guarantees and obligations in between us. If our banks got into trouble we can ask for help from Central bank of Europe. It is clear that our country is not the self-contained closed community that does not care about world outside its borders. We take many benefits from being interconnected with the world. Therefore we can surely state that our country is an open one. We are working and living on global scale

But it is very important to see also the other side of a coin. We are gaining very much from the world around us. In other words – the world around us is helping us. It is helping us in many different ways. Students can study abroad; we are able to play part in the international politics; our currency is being backed with the whole Europe; huge sums of money flow into our country just to help us to develop further. Thus we should not only take but also give. Probably we will not need to welcome French, German or UK citizens – because they seek better life and the rights in their country are not being respected. We can be helpful for all those people who are from undeveloped world. People who are being tortured for their opinions; whose accessibility to basic services such as healthcare or education many times does not exist. These are the ones who want to be global and need our help.

As the world outside our border has not refused to help us – we should walk the same path. Therefore we should improve the rights of immigrants of our country. That is the way to be global, which is the way we have chosen.
